COMPLETE GUT MICROBIOME TESTING

Your gut microbiome is a complex ecosystem of trillions of microorganisms that play a vital role in digestion, immunity, mood regulation, energy production, skin health and hormone regulation. When this delicate balance is disrupted, it can contribute to a wide range of health concerns, from bloating and fatigue to autoimmune conditions and mental health imbalances.

A Complete Gut Microbiome Test is a comprehensive, non-invasive stool test you can do from the comfort of your own home. Depending on the test used, it can assess bacterial populations and diversity, selected pathogens and other microorganisms, as well as markers relating to digestion, inflammation and intestinal function.

Rather than treating test results in isolation, I interpret them within the context of your overall clinical picture to determine which findings are relevant and whether they should influence your treatment plan.

What the Test Includes:

* Identification of beneficial and harmful gut bacteria

* Analysis of microbial diversity (a key indicator of gut health)

* Detection of pathogens, yeasts/candida, H.pylori, parasites, and viruses

* Markers of inflammation, digestion, and immune function

* Insights into short-chain fatty acid production (important for gut lining health)

Why Test Your Gut Microbiome?

Gut microbiome testing may be considered for people experiencing persistent digestive symptoms, unexplained symptoms such as fatigue/brain fog, mood disorders, hormone dysregulation, and more.

This may include people experiencing:

  • Persistent bloating, excessive gas or abdominal discomfort

  • Changes in bowel habits, including constipation or diarrhoea

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or ongoing digestive symptoms despite dietary changes

  • Suspected food intolerances or difficulty identifying dietary triggers

  • Ongoing digestive symptoms following a gastrointestinal infection

  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease - Crohn's or Colitis

  • Endometriosis where gut symptoms are common

  • Persistent digestive concerns where additional investigation may be appropriate

How It Works - The process is simple:

The process is simple and can be completed from the comfort of your own home.

1. Book Your Initial Consultation

We'll discuss your digestive symptoms, medical history, diet and any previous investigations to determine whether gut microbiome testing is appropriate for you.

2. Receive Your Test Kit

If testing is recommended, your kit will be ordered and delivered directly to your home, with instructions for collecting your stool sample.

3. Collect & Return Your Sample

Collect a small stool sample following the instructions provided and return it to the laboratory using the supplied packaging and shipping instructions.

4. Review Your Results

Once your results are available, we'll review the findings together, discussing what they may mean in the context of your symptoms and overall health.

5. Develop Your Personalised Treatment Plan

Based on your consultation, relevant pathology and test findings, we'll develop an individualised plan that may include nutrition, lifestyle changes and targeted supplementation where appropriate.

Testing is an additional cost and is only recommended where clinically appropriate.
